Sizemore & Sizemore, Inc., was organized on April 16,1949 by William R. Sizemore and his wife Mary H. Sizemore. The firm was originally headquartered in the Patterson Building in Tallassee, Alabama, but was recently relocated to the Tallassee Entrepreneur Center.
William R. Sizemore, co-founder, was a professional forester who attended the University of Michigan, Auburn University, Louisiana State University, Duke University and the University of Georgia. Degrees were received from the last three institutions, including a Ph.D. in forestry from Georgia. He was awarded the M.A.I. professional appraisal designation by the American Institute of Real Estate Appraisers. He was a registered forester in 11 states and a registered land surveyor in 2 states. He served as Adjunct Professor of Forest Economics at Auburn University, conducted short courses and led seminars at several universities and at the World Forestry Center in Portland, Oregon, and was an Adjunct Professor of Forestry at Duke University.
Mary H. Sizemore, co-founder, was a graduate of the University of Alabama Law School, and did graduate work at the University of Chicago in social service administration. She was a member of the Alabama Bar, a member of the American Bar Association and four of its sections, and the Association of Women Lawyers. She was a member of the Society of American Foresters and was a director of the Forest Farmers Association. She served as a director of the American Forestry Association and was a member of the Forestry Legislative Study Committee of the State of Alabama.
Both Dr. and Mrs. Sizemore wrote and spoke extensively on the subject of forestry. They co-authored books on forest appraisal and tax considerations in the management of forestlands. They co-authored articles in various Forest Farmer Manuals, the Natural Resources Lawyer, and the Bulletin of the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants.
During their years of forestry practice, Dr. and Mrs. Sizemore built a large clientele and filled the company with many knowledgeable and devoted employees, three of which they chose to carry on their company with the high standards to which their clients had become accustomed: Jack P. Fillingham, Steven G. Burak, and Richard H. Pinkowski, Jr.
